Online Casino 888.com, one of the world's leading online casinos, joins the chorus of Internet Gambling companies that report a significant fall-back in their revenues as a result of the public's focus on the World Cup.
It seems that people preferred watching football games than gambling online. The company behind 888.com reported that 2nd quarter revenues were only $80 million, 4% down on 1st quarter revenues for 2006. However generally, life is rosy for 888.com, which still earned 23% more income in the April-June 2006 quarter than in the corresponding quarter of 2005. In the same time frames, there was a 9% drop in numbers of online players, amounting to 281,000.
