Las Vegas Sands takes high rollers to the skies

Sheldon Adelson's casino company, the Las Vegas Sands Corp, has bought two commercial jets to fly high stakes players from Asia to their Las Vegas Venetian casino.
|
The planes will not only transport high rollers in style for the 14 hour flight, but will be fitted with all sorts of luxurious facilities. The VIP passengers will have the opportunity to play high stakes baccarat at real gaming tables during the flight.
The sky-high gambling activity is within the law, and the advantage for the Sands Corp is that while in international airspace, they pay no tax on profits. Just like gambling on a cruise ship, gambling in the air is not subject to tax.
This new service, aimed at big players from Hong Kong, goes to show that although neighbouring Macau may be raking in the gambling profits, Las Vegas still has that certain something that gamblers from all over the world seek.
Mr Adelson declined to give further details on the jets, preferring to keep his plans under wraps.
