Asian Poker Classic walks into India with style

In a land filled exoticism and tradition theres nothing more to add a little flavor than bringing the poker gaming fever to India.
|
That's exactly what the Asian Poker Classic did as professionals from all over the world lined up for that high-roller vendetta at India's first-ever pro-tournament, sponsored by the Maharahclub.net.
"This is my biggest tournament win, and I still cannot believe that I am the champion," said Carl Hostrup of Denmark, winner of the tournament who walked away with a $1 million pool prize money.
More than 143 poker players from over 15 countries came to compete for the grand prize, including high profile players.
The posh poker party tournament took place in Goa at a luxury five-star Intercontinental Grand Resort. With the Asia Classic tournament, India has paved the way for poker in the region.
"Poker is a global sport with players from almost every country around the globe. We are extremely proud of the success of this year's Asian Poker Classic and hope that it provides the platform for the future growth and development of the game in India," said Imran Hassan, director of operations for the Asian Poker Classic.
The tournament also marked the introduction of Team Maharajah - a group primarily Indian players who took the tournament by storm.
