Eager Beavers Beware of France's Gambling Regulations

The French gambling authorities will crackdown any online casino operator caught advertising this early. France is scheduled to change its gambling regulations early next year and could not be any more serious about imposing infractions to online gambling sites that refuse to follow.

Online betting company Zeturf, has undoubtedly caught the attention of media regulators as Zeturf put up a full page advertisement of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe horse race in Metro. The advertisement mentioned the company's timely payment processes and favourable odds, clearly making it an unauthorized advertisement.
Meanwhile, Zeturf dismissed allegations and explained that the spread was in fact, a press release, although Budget Minister Eric Woerth did not buy the story. Woerth insists it is rather an advertisement in disguise and has warned the company that this recent violation of regulations would clearly have a bearing on their license renewal next year.
Online gambling sites and casinos have since attempted to secure a place in the French gambling market as France will be opening its market to registered and licensed European competitors by 2010. Woerth warns online gambling sites that any attempt to gain an unfair head start from the competition will definitely impact the results of their licensing for next year.
