Missouri Receives Resignation from Top Gaming Commissioner [Tuesday, March 21, 2006]
|
|
Kevin P. Mullally confirmed that he resigned as executive director of the Missouri Gaming Commission after 5 years of being the Commission's chief enforcer.
|
Last week Mullally informed the state's Gaming Commission that he had been offered a post as general counsel and director of governmental affairs for a New Jersey based private company, Gaming Laboratories International.
The company tests gambling systems and devices such as slot machines for gambling regulation offices around the world.
Mullally, who had devoted a decade to the leadership of the government agency felt that he had contributed enough to the Missouri Gaming Commission, and he was happy to move into the private sector to make room for someone with a fresh perspective step up to take his place.
The deputy director of enforcement for the commission, Steve Johnson, will take over the position until a qualified replacement can be found.
The position will be a hard one to fill, as Mullally was heavily involved with helping to write and regulate the states gaming laws, having been a part of the commission since it was first formed 13 years ago. Mullally was made director, he knew the law inside out, and to this day he knows the state's gaming laws better than anyone else.
Mullally is well known for his integrity and his fair and honest enforcement of state regulations and his involvement in the industry. He has a good reputation for initiating new programs to help problem gamblers and other states have followed his lead in many areas, making many of his innovations have become standards in the industry nationwide.
As well as being a main figure in every casino debate in Missouri, Mullally was also president-elect of the North-American Gaming Regulators Association, but will no longer accept that post, as well as being on the board of the National Centre for Responsible Gaming, a non-profit company focused on combating problem and youth gambling through education.
