Harrah's to Re-Open Grand Casino Biloxi

The first phase of Harrah's Entertainment, Inc.'s plans to create a Mississippi Gulf Coast destination resort will come to fruition this summer with the Re-Opening of the Grand Casino Biloxi.

The casino is expected to be reopened by the end of summer 2006, after a thorough revamping project. The property's current facilities, which include the conventions centre and Bayview Hotel tower, will be totally rebuilt with a completely new design.
The casino's redesign plans, which will include a 500-room hotel features a convention-size buffet, steak restaurant and a swimming pool with a massive full-service spa. The complex will employ over 1,000 people from the outset, with further expansions expected after regulatory approval.
Gary Loveman, president, chairman and CEO of Harrah's Entertainment reportedly said that he was very excited to see the restoration process unfold. Loveman projects that the Mississippi Gulf Coast development will bring the high-quality standards in casino and gaming entertainment expected by Harrah's patrons in their casinos nationwide.
"Harrah's looks forward to playing our part in the rebuilding of the Coast's tourism and gaming industries, and to providing and recreating jobs for the local community." said a representative of Harrah's.
The former assistant general manager of Gulfport's Grand Casino, Karen Sock, is expected to be named general manager and senior vice president of Grand Casino Biloxi, assuming that all appropriate regulation approvals and requirements are met.
Sock, a gaming industry veteran with more than 20 years' experience under her belt in the gaming and hospitality industry, worked in the company previously, serving at Harrah's New Orleans as vice president of human resources before making the move to Grand Casino Gulfport in June last year.
This project is the first step for Harrah's in their endeavor to create a world-class resort in the Biloxi area.
