Poker Novice to Play at Star- Studded, All- Female Tournament [Sunday, March 19, 2006]

	Poker experts predict that it is only a matter of time before there is a female world poker champion.
Lisa Bishop, a 37 year- old pub owner and mother of two, may well be the next undiscovered poker whiz. She recently won the opportunity to play against the best female players in the world in a woman- only tournament in London at the Poker Den. The tournament features a top prize of $40,000 and an enormous diamond ring- and the chance to mingle with poker- playing celebrities like Stephanie Beacham, who appeared in Bad Girls, Dynasty and Beverley Hills 90210, and Coronation St and Holby City star Tina Hobley. Bishop, who owns the Peacock Inn in Rugby, told reporters that she only started playing a few months prior to winning the opportunity to compete in the Poker Den tournament on an online poker hall site. She started to play, she told reporters, when one of her customers at the pub brought in a poker set. Her fianc then signed up at an online poker site, and the two began to play a few nights a week. She said that while some strategy is involved in poker, winning basically comes down to having the right cards. She basically relies, she said, on her calmness and common sense. The amateur lady poker ace, who is planning to get married in August to fianc Phil Cosgrove, said that winning the Poker Den tournament would be "the icing on the cake."
