It's widely accepted that Blackjack offers players some of the best odds in casino games. It's also a game that combines skill and luck, rather than luck alone. That's why it has become very popular in casinos, even competing for attention with Poker. These tips will help you to play a smarter game of Blackjack. What's important is that you read these points carefully and try to implement them at every opportunity.
|
- Do your homework first read whatever you can about Blackjack rules and understand the many variations of the game. Look for opportunities to play in Practice Mode (not for real money) and search out Guided Blackjack Tutorials on the Web. Many online casinos have very realistic Blackjack games almost like being at a real table. There is a rhythm to playing this game (as in most games) and the more practiced you are, the quicker you will find it. The last thing you can afford to do is sit at a Blackjack table or by a Blackjack screen and be surprised at every step.
- Use strategy aids to help you play during your game you can use Blackjack strategy cards at the table. Online, you can keep a second website open that gives you strategy tips while you play. There are no restrictions here.
- The issue of counting cards offline, nobody can prevent you physically from counting cards, but all casinos actively discourage this practice. Online, there is no point in counting cards since the decks are always shuffled between hands.
- Get wise to the subject of playing odds during your learning process', find out what odds are associated with your hand and with the dealer's hand. Also check what is the payout rate. The standard rate is 3:2 odds but many tables now offer 6:5 odds (due to the game's rising popularity). That puts less money in your pocket when you win. In other words, look for the payout structure' at the start of every new game or when moving to a new casino.
- Keep your concentration on the dealer in Blackjack you are playing against the dealer and he or she is the only one who should interest you. Forget what other players are doing. If you are playing in an online environment, create a distraction-free' environment. That means no TV or radio in the background, turn the phone off and close the door. You need to focus on the strategy and the odds that are presented with each hand you get. Your goal is to remain under the 21 limit while being able to beat the dealer or at least getting a Push (tie with dealer).
- Set limits around your game decide in advance what's the maximum money that you are prepared to risk in Blackjack. In other words: "What am I prepared to lose? The minute that you have reached this threshold, stop. If you have won some money, keep it. Don't try to re-bet it in the hope of winning more. The chances are that you will lose it and then leave the game with a lousy feeling instead of a good one.
- Build your experience around 'small bet' games it's better to play 30 small games than 3 big ones. Every game that you play gives you one notch more experience, and the day will come when you can use this to your advantage. Nobody gets good without a lot of practice.
- Remember to preserve the 'fun' element at the end of the day, you play a casino game because it is fun, a form of entertainment. You pay for other entertainment, like watching a movie or going to a sports match. The principle is the same here. Unless you have ambitions of being a professional Blackjack player, don't take the game too seriously otherwise you'll be very disappointed.
Good luck and lots of fun in your ongoing Blackjack experiences!
