Understanding Roulette Systems

It's an interesting fact that Roulette is one of the oldest casino games still played today. First played in 17th century France, the game has undergone many changes over time, remaining fresh, interesting and different from most other casino games.

A question of zeros
The first point to understand is that there are two variations of Roulette. The American version has a single and double zero slot (colored green), increasing the slots number to 38 (from 37) and decreasing the winning odds for the player (house advantage of 2.7% on Single Zero compared to 5.26% on Double Zero). So players are better off with European Roulette.
Martingale system
Here players double their bet after each loss, so that the first win recovers all the previous losses and causes the win of a profit equal to the original wager. However care should be taken because nobody has infinite wealth, so the system should be used only on a small scale.
Same number
This is the lucky number system, which involves betting on a number repeatedly, knowing that eventually the number or group has to win. With this system, players also feel that these lucky numbers are likely to come up more than other numbers, which makes them a safe bet.
New numbers
Another approach takes the opposite view: that once a number has come up, it is unlikely to come up again. Players who use this technique will avoid numbers which recently came up and go for whatever groups which have not come up in a long time.
