Indian Poker Player places third at APC

It may have been India's first mega poker tournament, but Indian players were pumped and ready for the Asian Poker Classic.

Taking him four months, Pranav Bathija of Mumbai taught himself enough about the game of Texas Holdem Poker, landing and impressive 3rd place at India's first professional poker tournament.
"This win will do great things for poker in Asia If I can learn poker in just four months and place third in an international poker tournament, then I've proven that it is very possible to be a successful poker player in India," Bathija said.
Bathija learned the basics of the game through the maharajahclub.net site, offering free online poker. After quick advancements, Pranav became one of the Maharajah Club's sponsored players for the Asian Poker Classic.
"This is a serious tournament. I'm so happy to prove myself and to prove that Indians can compete in this sport on an international level," he said.
MaharajahClub.net sponsored 12 Indian players. Of the 12, three finished in the top 20, including Shiv Puri, also from India, who won Event 1 of the APC.
