NASCAR Champion to Host Tournament at Caesars Palace

Four- time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon will make a pit- stop at Caesars Palace during his trip to Las Vegas this weekend, for the purpose of hosting the Jeff Gordon Foundation Poker Classic.
|
The No-Limit Hold Em Poker event, the proceeds of which will benefit the Jeff Gordon Foundation, will be attended by dozens of sports and other celebrities and professional card sharks like Chris Moneymaker, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Robert Williamson III, and Steven Dannemann.
The Jeff Gordon Foundation Poker Classic tournament is also open to the poker- playing public, with an affordable $1,000 buy- in. Prizes include a money purse and a seat in the World Series of Poker, worth $10,000.
"Poker has really taken off the past couple of years, and I'm glad we're able to take advantage of its popularity to raise money for those in need," Gordon said.
The Jeff Gordon Foundation supports a variety of charities, primarily those that help children with leukemia and lymphoma. Some of the charities that benefit from the generosity of the Foundation are The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, The Make a Wish Foundation, Victory Junction Gang Camp, a summer camp for children suffering from cancer.
The Jeff Gordon Foundation Poker Classic is expected to draw a large crowd, including both poker fans and NASCAR racing enthusiasts.
In anticipation of the grand event, Gordon offered some words of reflection: "There are some similarities between poker and racing. In both, you must be patient but attack at the right times. And a little bit of luck never hurts either."
